Explore the World of Car Wraps: Everything You Need to Know

Updated: Aug 9, 2023

Are you curious about vehicle wraps and how they work? Essentially, a vehicle wrap is a digitally-printed, high-performance vinyl that adheres to and covers the painted surfaces of your car. This means that almost any image or design can adorn the sides of your vehicle. Read on to learn more about the exciting world of car wraps.

Is my vinyl wrap print protected?

Yes, absolutely. We laminate each printed vehicle wrap. Your vinyl wrapped car provides durability from scratches, as well as UV protection from the sun’s rays.

How is a vehicle wrap different from paint?

Paint is permanent. Vehicle Wraps actually protect your cars painted surface, and can be removed when it comes time to trade-in, or sell your car.

Will a vehicle wrap harm my vehicles surface?

A vehicle wrap also protects your paint from the harmful effects of mother nature. In addition to UV protection, the vehicle wrap will stop rock chips, scratches, acid-rain and more, and since the vehicle wrap is not permanent, your paint will look just as pristine as it did the day you dropped your car off to be wrapped. The benefits are two-fold, your will be adding resale value to your vehicle, all while promoting your business.

How should I care for my vehicle wrap?

Mild soap and water will do fine. We do recommend that the vehicle is washed regularly, as road grime can cause vehicle wrap fatigue and negate the vinyl manufacturers warranty. Brush-type car washes are not recommended as they can abrade the film and cause edges to lift or chip, as well as dulling the film's appearance. Brushless car washes are acceptable.

Pressure Washing

Although hand washing is the preferred cleaning method, pressure washing may be

used under these conditions.

• Ensure the water pressure is kept below 2000 psi.

• Keep water temperature below 180° Farenheit (80 °C).

• Use a spray nozzle with a 40 degree wide angle spray pattern.

• Keep the nozzle at least 1 foot (300 mm) away from and perpendicular (at 90 degrees)

to the graphic.

Are vehicle wraps expensive?

Compared to other options for advertisement, vehicle wraps offer you the most exposure for the least amount of money. It has been said that over the course of a year, if you live in a city of 50,000, your vehicle wrap will receive 8.3 million impressions.

On average a small-mid sized car, such as a Yaris will cost $2000 to print and install, A mid-sized car will cost approximately $2500, and an SUV or Truck would be between $2500-$3500. Please keep in mind that this does not include design fees. Compared to radio, or television advertisement, the impressions to cost ratio is significantly lower.

What if I do not have a design in mind?

This is something we come across on a regular basis. Not only do we have expert wrap installers, but we also have an amazing graphic design team who can help you from idea to concept and print.

With over 20 years in the business, we recommend having our team design your wrap, as we are familiar with your vehicles intricacies that a regular graphic designer may not be aware of, such as body molding placement, gas tank door location

and more.

How long does it take to wrap a vehicle?

The short answer is 2 weeks, however we make every effort to keep our clients happy, so if your needs are a bit more demanding, we are confident that we can meet your stricter requirements. In general it takes a week to flush out the design phase, a few days to print the graphics, and 2 days to install the wrap.

How do you handle wrapping windows?

Each case is specific to the design of the car, and the wishes of the client. We always wrap the back windows with a perforated vinyl that is 50% holes, and 50% vinyl. This offers you the ability to see out the back window, while adding privacy from people trying to look in. The side windows are typically wrapped with the same perforated vinyl, but may also be wrapped in the typical vehicle wrap vinyl to suit the needs of the client.

What size vehicles can you wrap?

The answer to that is simple, we can wrap any vehicle. We are wrap professionals, we can wrap something as small as a compact sedan and all the way up to a bus, plane, train, monster truck or building. No really, we can wrap a building!

We just don't personally do golf carts, motorcycles, and such as much anymore, but they can be done in general. That is the beauty of wraps, virtually there are no limits.

• .tif, .psd, .jpg – these bitmap/raster files must be a the exact dimensions of the vehicle and cannot have a resolution lower than 72dpi.

We prefer to have a layered .psd file with the text layers rasterized. Please note, we are also able to provide a template of your vehicles exact dimensions to your designer.
